Science Talk: Integrated Modeling for Water-Food-Energy Risks under Climate Change

Linking Climate, Water, and Human Systems for a Resilient Future

Time
- America/Toronto
Details
Open to public

In this Science Talk, Dr. Yue Qin will present an integrated modeling framework for understanding and addressing the complex interactions between climate change and interconnected food, energy, and water (FEW) systems. By coupling hydrodynamic processes with human societal responses, the framework links climate models with socio-economic factors, including thermal power production, agricultural practices, and international trade.

Dr. Qin will explore how changes in water quantity, temperature, and seasonality can reshape water, food, and energy security, while examining how human activities feed back into the coupled climate–FEW system. The talk will highlight the critical role of coupled human–water modeling in developing adaptive strategies to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of food, energy, and water resources under global environmental change.
