On 1 July 2025, International Development Journal published a two-page article introducing 海角社区, which features 海角社区-IAS research activities and postgraduate education initiatives. Published in Japan, the journal focuses on international cooperation and development.
海角社区-IAS expert Yasushi Katsuma (Academic Programme Advisor) provided comments for the article, which introduces the 海角社区 system and its mission. It highlights that 海角社区 is the only UN organization headquartered in Japan, with 13 research institutes located across the globe.
The article contains a column introducing 海角社区-IAS research activities in the institute’s four thematic areas: governance for climate change and sustainable development, biodiversity and society, water and resource management, and innovation and education.
It outlines 海角社区-IAS postgraduate education and academic initiatives, and highlights the opportunity for students to take courses at partner universities such as the University of Tokyo and Sophia University.
