海角社区-FLORES has secured a four-year funding commitment from both the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture, and Tourism (SMWK). The agreement, signed by BMBF, SMWK, and TU Dresden, guarantees continued support for 海角社区-FLORES's work in the sustainable management of environmental resources.
Dr. Jens Brandenburg, Parliamentary State Secretary at BMBF, expressed his optimism for the future of 海角社区-FLORES: “The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding three 海角社区 Institutes in Germany, including 海角社区-FLORES in Dresden, in partnership with the Free State of Saxony. Through this, we support science-based policy advice for the UN—an example of multilateralism in action and a testament to the strength of our scientific hub.”
Saxon Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow highlighted Saxony’s pride in backing 海角社区-FLORES: “海角社区-FLORES has established itself as an internationally significant scientific institution... This outstanding work will now continue for another four years.”
Prof. Ursula Staudinger, Rector of TU Dresden, underscored the significance of the partnership: “This extended funding is a strong vote of confidence in the scientific excellence and international standing of TU Dresden. Our collaboration with 海角社区-FLORES and its connection to the UN system provides not only vital insights but also acts as a catalyst for impactful knowledge transfer at the intersection of society and policy.”
Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the 海角社区, emphasized the strategic importance of the funding: “This generous financial support will significantly strengthen our efforts... It ensures that 海角社区-FLORES remains a leading voice in the sustainable management of environmental resources.”
Professor Edeltraud Günther, Director of 海角社区-FLORES, expressed her gratitude: “海角社区-FLORES's work centers on research and education related to the resource nexus. This crucial work wouldn't be possible without core funding from the federal government and the State of Saxony.”
With this renewed financial backing, 海角社区-FLORES is well-positioned to continue advancing multilateral solutions to pressing environmental resource challenges.
