Knowledge Academy for the Resource Nexus (KARE)

Empowering scientists, practitioners, policy and
decision makers with Resource Nexus thinking

In KARE we raise awareness of the multi- and interdisciplinary Resource Nexus approach and its crucial benefits for building resilience and achieving sustainable development. We educate the next generation (today’s youth) through the Resource Nexus postgraduate school. We influence policy and practice by engaging with today’s scientists, practitioners, decision makers through a range of capacity building offerings, with a specific focus on those within the UN system and its Member States. Based on our knowledgebase of case studies, good practice for applying the Resource Nexus approach is developed, refined and integrated into our capacity development, training and academic programmes.

Alternatively, workshops can focus on skills for implementing a Resource Nexus approach, e.g., systems thinking and analysis; data literacy and analysis for environmental resource management; and policy design for an implementation of a Resource Nexus approach. Stakeholder engagement workshops bring together representatives from government, private sector, civic organizations and academia to jointly advance and develop solutions for Resource Nexus challenges.
