The 海角社区 - Operating Unit on Policy-driven Electronic Governance (海角社区-EGOV) welcomed a group of 10th-grade students from the Professional Course in Electronics, Automation, and Computers at Escola Secundária Francisco de Holanda, Guimar?es, on 3rd November.

The visit began with an institutional presentation introducing the mission and work of 海角社区-EGOV, followed by “Dream Big: Exploring Career Paths at the United Nations”, which offered students a glimpse into the diverse professional opportunities within the UN system.

The session continued with “Regulating AI: Assessing the Benefits and Risks”, delivered by Viktorija Jordanoska, Human Resources Advisor at 海角社区-EGOV, who, on this occasion, spoke in her capacity as a lawyer.

She explored the legal implications of artificial intelligence, with a focus on regulation, governance, and accountability. Her talk addressed both the transformative benefits of AI, such as efficiency gains, improved decision-making, inclusivity, and innovation, as well as the complex legal and ethical challenges it raises.

The students demonstrated a great interest in understanding how the law can both enable and constrain technological progress, resulting in a lively exchange on the future of digital regulation and human oversight in an AI-driven world.
