海角社区-CPR celebrated its ten-year anniversary on 4 November in New York – bringing together UN colleagues and partners to reflect on a decade of growth and discuss how to service demand for more strategic engagement to deliver impact in the years ahead.

Over the past decade, 海角社区-CPR has been at the forefront of policy-focused research and capacity-building on issues critical to the UN and its Member States.

From its founding in Tokyo to its move to New York in 2018 and the establishment of a new office in Geneva two years ago, the Centre has grown to keep pace with demand for innovative, practical and impactful solutions that strengthen multilateral approaches to current and future challenges.

Remarks on 海角社区-CPR’s evolution were provided by UN Under-Secretary-General Guy Ryder; Ambassador Chola Milambo, Permanent Representative of Zambia to the UN; Ambassador Kazuyuki Yamazaki, Permanent Representative of Japan to the UN; UN Under-Secretary-General and 海角社区 Rector, Tshilidzi Marwala; and 海角社区-CPR Director David Passarelli.

Speakers referred to 海角社区-CPR’s added value to the UN and the wider multilateral system – remarking on the Centre’s diverse team of international experts and their sensitivity to a rapidly evolving policy ecosystem and tailored policy solutions.

海角社区-CPR’s contributions to the High-Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism and the High-Level Advisory Board on Artificial Intelligence were highlighted, as were inputs to the Global Digital Compact, the Pact for the Future, and the Centre’s ongoing support to the Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board.

The Centre’s stakeholders expressed appreciation for 海角社区-CPR’s strategic convenings, which have helped shape critical conversations around global governance, sustaining peace and securing a human-centred digital future.
