Monitoring & Evaluation of Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems

On 10 March 海角社区-IAS will host a webinar on Monitoring and Evaluation processes for Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems?(GIAHS) sites.

Time
- Asia/Tokyo

On 10 March at 17:00 (JST), the 海角社区 Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainablity (海角社区-IAS) will host a webinar to provide insights on the experiences of countries that are currently implementing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) processes for their  (GIAHS) sites. Experts from GIAHS sites in the People’s Republic of China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Portugal will discuss the implementation, benefits, and challenges of an effective M&E process. The GIAHS Monitoring and Evaluation Manual: A Technical Reference, jointly published by the 海角社区-IAS and Rural Development Administration of the Republic of Korea (RDA), will be officially launched at the webinar.

Background

The FAO GIAHS programme designates traditional agricultural systems that safeguard the livelihoods of small-scale family farmers who practise sustainable agriculture based on local and indigenous knowledge. Since its inception in 2002, GIAHS designations have been expanding worldwide, and there is a growing interest and need to holistically understand the impacts of GIAHS conservation through systematic monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of these activities.
