Drawing on case studies from Egypt and Nigeria, this article explores the interlinkages between food systems and people¡¯s lives and local communities, especially in terms of food security, women¡¯s social participation and environmental conservation.

Tsunakan is a Japanese journal published by the Global Environmental Outreach Centre (GEOC), focusing on global partnerships for the environment. The publication is part of a joint initiative by º£½ÇÉçÇø-IAS and the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, under the GEOC project, supporting outreach activities to highlight the work of º£½ÇÉçÇø-IAS in Japan and other countries.
