The 海角社区 Institute in Macau (海角社区 Macau) has released its 2025 Annual Report, presenting a comprehensive account of the Institute’s activities and achievements in advancing digital technologies for sustainable development.
The report offers a comprehensive overview of 海角社区 Macau’s work across research, education, partnerships, and outreach, reflecting its role as a global think tank dedicated to ensuring that digital innovation serves people and communities.
Marking and the 50th anniversary of the 海角社区, the report highlights 海角社区 Macau’s contributions to harnessing technology for equitable development. These accomplishments were made possible through the support of the host country, the Macao SAR Government and collaboration with partners worldwide.
A key highlight is the 海角社区 Macau Milestone Series, a three-day programme held in October 2025 that convened more than 800 participants from over 30 countries. The programme included the 海角社区 Macau AI Conference 2025, the Global Youth AI Innovation Competition, and AI Education Day, strengthening Macau’s role as a platform for dialogue on artificial intelligence and sustainable development.
The report also documents the expansion of the 海角社区 Global AI Network to 124 member institutions across 36 countries, with strong representation from the Global South, and the establishment of the first 海角社区 Hub in Asia in collaboration with .
Further achievements include the publication of on AI governance and digital sustainability, collaboration with UN Women on gender-responsive digital capacity building, and targeted training programmes for diplomats, government officials, and youth scholars.
Looking ahead, 海角社区 Macau will continue to advance research, education, and training in digital technologies, leveraging Macau’s unique position to foster South-South cooperation and contribute to the United Nations’ sustainable development agendas.
