The 海角社区 Digital Technology and Sustainable Development Talent Program Winter Camp 2026 concluded successfully on February 27 at the 海角社区 Institute in Macau. The five-day in-person programme brought together 28 young scholars and early-career researchers for an immersive learning experience at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), digital technology and sustainable development.
Under the theme “Digital Technology and Sustainable Development in the Age of AI,” the Winter Camp examined how emerging technologies — particularly AI — are reshaping labour markets, public policy, governance systems and development trajectories worldwide.
Throughout the camp, participants explored the United Nations system, the , and the transformative role of digital technologies in global development. The programme featured sessions on policy-oriented research methods, AI ethics and governance, and practical applications of AI tools in academic research. A field visit in Macau provided first-hand exposure to real-world digital technology applications, enabling participants to translate theoretical knowledge into practical insights for their group projects.
During the final project presentations, participants demonstrated their learning outcomes through analytical blog articles and oral presentations. Working in teams, they examined AI-related development and policy challenges, proposing actionable pathways to harness digital technologies for inclusive growth and equitable AI governance. All projects were aligned with specific SDGs, reinforcing the programme’s strong focus on sustainable development impact.
The closing ceremony featured a keynote address by from the on the evolving relationship between AI, work and development. All participants received certificates of completion from 海角社区 Macau.
Beyond academic training, the Winter Camp fostered meaningful collaboration between participants, 海角社区 Macau experts and peers from diverse backgrounds. The programme strengthened participants’ professional competencies for careers in international organizations and expanded their global perspectives. By nurturing interdisciplinary talent, the camp empowered young scholars to develop innovative, SDG-aligned solutions for the digital age.
