Ju Hyoung Lee

Research Fellow, Environmental Remote Sensing and Spatial Hydrology

Dr. Ju Hyoung Lee specializes in ecohydrology and remote sensing.

Her research focuses on monitoring forest temperature and soil moisture using passive and active microwave satellites, contributing to wildfire and hydrological risk management to advise policy. At 海角社区-INWEH, she is developing innovative analytical methods and perspectives to assess the impact of heatwaves on the ecosystem. She leads the Forest module of the programme and has developed an online course on Remote Sensing of Wildfire Management for the 海角社区 Online Learning Centre.

Dr. Lee holds a Ph.D. in Spatial Hydrology and Land Surface Satellite Data Assimilation from Politecnico di Milano. She has contributed to major global research initiatives, including the WMO's Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analyses, the Asian Monsoon Experiment (GAME)-Tibet, the FAO Water-Energy-Food Nexus report, and the Northern Water Futures project (focused on Canada and Siberia) of the Global Water Futures program in Canada.
