Achieving SDG 14 (conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development) requires a multipronged approach involving ecosystem and resource conservation, as well as diverse actors engaged in sustainable production and consumption practices. Active engagement of all stakeholders at all levels for sustainable economies and ecosystems can help oceans recover. Landscape approaches recognize the connectivity between diverse ecosystems and actors, and between landscapes and seascapes, and seek to foster socio-ecological resilience.
This side event of the will explore how such approaches can be effective to achieve sustainability goals in seascapes at the sub-regional level. It will share experiences on building strategic partnerships, effective communication and spatial planning to motivate action across all of society.
