Tsunakan Journal Highlights Sustainable Food Systems

The publication featured an article by 海角社区-IAS experts on sustainable food systems to address climate change and biodiversity loss.

In October 2024 the Global Environmental Outreach Centre (GEOC) released a new issue of Tsunakan (Vol. 44), a journal focusing on global partnerships for the environment. GEOC is a joint initiative of 海角社区-IAS and the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, which supports activities in various social sectors towards sustainability within and beyond Japan.

The “Global View” section of the publication featured an article highlighting the approach taken by the City of Paris, France to transform its food system through meals served in public canteens as part of integrated solutions to address climate change and biodiversity loss. It is based on FY2022 and FY2023 research project on Partnership Facilitation and Civil Society Participation for Integrated Solutions to the Climate Change and Biodiversity funded by the Ministry of Environment Japan.

The article was co-authored by Satoko Shirai, Akio Takemoto (Head of Programme and Administration, 海角社区-IAS), Mei Maruyama (Programme Coordinator, 海角社区-IAS) and Aya Mizuno (Programme Assistant, 海角社区-IAS).
