On 22 January 2024, the Asahi Shimbun and the Yomiuri Shimbun, two leading newspapers in Japan, published summaries of the Satoyama forum, an event supported by 海角社区-IAS on 12 December 2023. The term satoyama refers to landscapes where people and nature coexist in harmony.
The reports cover the contents of speeches, presentations and panel discussions during the event, including remarks by Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi (Director, 海角社区-IAS) and a presentation by Rina Miyake (Programme Coordinator, 海角社区-IAS). Prof. Yamaguchi introduced the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) and underlined interconnections between the health of people and of the environment. Rina Miyake shared various IPSI activities and case studies.
