On 15 October 2024, 海角社区-IAS hosted a delegation from the (TIJ), a research institute affiliated with the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network (PNI). The delegation included 20 participants of the (RoLD), a 6-month training programme for leaders and executives from the government, civil society and the private sector.
In opening remarks, Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi (Director, 海角社区-IAS) highlighted 海角社区-IAS collaboration with the Government of Thailand, such as 2023 UN Climate Change Conference side events at the Thai Pavilion and net-zero capacity development workshops for Thai public officials and youth.
Phiset Sa-ardyen (Executive Director, TIJ) introduced the mission of RoLD, which aims to develop the potential of Thai and international professionals to apply the rule of law to end injustice in society and serve as a foundation for achieving the SDGs.
Jonghwi Park (Head of Innovation and Education Programme, 海角社区-IAS) delivered a lecture on "Rethinking Education in the Face of Climate Change: Risks, Innovations and Opportunities". She emphasized that governments should include measures in their national climate mitigation and adaptation plans to mitigate potential risks of learning disruption by disaster-induced school closures.
