Sustainable Urban Water for Human Health and Well-being

On 20 August 2023, as part of , 海角社区-IAS will host the online event . The session will explore the role of health-related, multisectoral water management in strengthening economic and environmental resilience of societies, and will facilitate dialogue between stakeholders towards improving water-related health and well-being in urban areas.

The session will engage with practitioners from public and private organizations, academia, and youth representatives to discuss:

  • challenges and barriers to accelerating urban water quality
  • the role of entrepreneurship and youth participation in promoting innovative water management for health
  • differential impacts of water quality and how they drive different but gender-appropriate WASH, health, and socioeconomic interventions to enhance well-being and minimize inequalities
  • climate change-related water insecurity and its impact on mental health and psychological well-being
  • ways of developing a system to address vulnerabilities and inequalities

Background

Since 1991, the  (SIWI) has organized World Water Week, the leading conference on global water issues, ranging from food security and health, to agriculture, technology, biodiversity, and the climate crisis. World Water Week 2023 will be held in Stockholm, Sweden from 20–24 August under the theme “Seeds of Change: Innovative Solutions for a Water-Wise World”.
