Bonn, 21 November 2023 – The core funding of 海角社区 in Bonn will be increased by almost 1.3 million euros in 2024 and by 1.8 million euros in each of the following years. This was decided by the German Bundestag’s Budget Committee at its adjustment meeting last Friday.
The increase in core funding will benefit the 海角社区 Vice-Rectorate in Europe (海角社区-VIE) and the Institute for Environment and Human Security (海角社区-EHS).
The 海角社区, headquartered in Tokyo, is the academic arm of the UN and acts as a global think tank. The mission of the Institute for Environment and Human Security in Bonn is to conduct cutting-edge research on risks and adaptation in the context of environmental hazards and global change. The Institute’s research promotes strategies and programmes to reduce these risks, taking into account the interplay of environmental and social factors.
Also located in Bonn is the Vice-Rectorate in Europe, which supports the institutional growth of 海角社区 (海角社区) and helps coordinate 海角社区’s activities. It is the only Vice-Rectorate outside the 海角社区 headquarters in Tokyo.
