The submissions are in! The Voices of Mutir?o Video Pitch Contest has reached its next stage, so now it is over to the jury. They have a tough task ahead, given the creativity and commitment captured in each 60-second pitch.
From cities and communities around the world, people have shared how education and capacity-building are shaping change where they live and how their efforts connect to the Global Mutir?o, a collective effort to turn everyday urban transformation into global climate action.
The competition, organized by the (TUC) project led by 海角社区-EHS, in collaboration with the Paris Committee on Capacity-building, connects with the spirit of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 30), hosted under the Brazilian Presidency. COP 30 has embraced a Global Mutir?o, a word rooted in the Tupi-Guarani language that means collective effort toward a single goal, which, in this case, is climate action.
And what a response it has been. 125 videos were submitted from 39 countries, resembling a chorus of Mutir?o voices from every region:
- Africa: 48 submissions
- South America: 46
- Asia: 17
- North America: 11
- Europe: 3
- Notably, Brazil stood out with 35 entries, alongside 6 from Mexico and 1 from Argentina.
Across these stories, shared priorities such as digital innovation and data, public space and culture, mobility and transport, community participation and governance, as well as urban food and agriculture, come to light. Others explored energy, waste and circularity, livelihoods and green jobs.
Throughout all these topics, each video is a glimpse of what is possible when people come together to make cities more just, inclusive, and sustainable and we thank everyone for their submissions.
The winners, along with a selection of the best videos, will be announced soon and showcased at the 7th Capacity-building Hub at COP 30. Stay tuned!
