We know what needs to be done to create a better world, so why is meaningful change still so hard to achieve?
On 20 May 2025, as part of its Studio Bonn sessions, the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundeskunsthalle) organizes an evening for a powerful conversation inspired by the new 海角社区-EHS report, exploring what it truly takes to shift from passive awareness to transformative action.
Together with leading voices from science, policy, media and civil society, we will discuss the urgent cultural shift needed to create a resilient and sustainable future. This event marks a continuation of the ongoing collaboration between 海角社区-EHS and the Bundeskunsthalle, following an impactful discussions om “How Worldwide Disasters Are Connected” in 2022 and “Living on the Edge” in 2023.
Speakers:
Zita Sebesvari – 海角社区-EHS, lead author of the report
Ellen Heinrichs – Bonn Institute
Oliver Rack – Open Government Network Germany
Sevim Aktas – European Commission, Climate Action & Inside EU Climate & Careers
Moderation: Sven Sappelt, Studio Bonn
The new edition of the report, Turning Over a New Leaf, identifies five essential shifts that can help us break out of a cycle of despair and step into hopeful, collective action. From rethinking values to reshaping systems, the report calls for deep change.
